BDC Discoveries 2013 Awards Announced!

p style=”text-align: left;”>With great pleasure we introduce to you the awarded BDC Discoveries 2013 projects!


BDC Discovery Award 2013 for Best Pitch, a cash prize in the amount of 1500 EUR given with the kind support of State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bulgaria, goes to Eliza Zdru, Romania, with the project “My Great Grandfather, Mita Zdru, Was Photographed by the Manakia Brothers“.

A special mention for great pitching performance was also given to Bojana Burnac and Iva Tkalec, Croatia, with the project “APNEA – The Art of Non-Breathing“.

Three teams were selected to participate with their projects in the upcoming Co-production Meeting, the acclaimed industry event of our partner DOK Leipzig:

Gilles Cotton and Isabel de la Serna, Belgium, with the project “Meet Enver Hadri

and

Mihajlo Jevtic and Natalia Imaz, Serbia/Germany, with the project “Four Passports

The awards were given at the second module of BDC Discoveries in Prizren, which took place between 21. and 25. August during DokuFest ? the biggest documentary film festival in the region and our long-term partner in the struggle for establishing strong documentary scene on the Balkans. All participants presented their projects in front of international jury of decision-makers at the special BDC pitching forum. The jury shared their difficulty to decide about the winners because of the overall high-quality of content and presentations of all participants!

All participants, BDC team and jury members celebrated together the successful edition of BDC Discoveries 2013 Pitching Forum!

In addition, Balkan Documentary Center provides one of the most important, already traditional, award at DOKUFEST Balkan DOX film competition called Best Balkan Newcomer Award – a cash prize of 500 EUR for best debut film – which was given at this year’s official ceremony to the project “To the Wolf” by Christina Koutsospyrou and Aran Hughes (Greece/UK/France).
