Balkan Watchers 2024

Ten years the “Forest Glade” rehabilitation center has been a sanctuary for Ukrainian defenders and veterans, offering a place of solace and recovery for those scarred by war. Narrated by “Forest Glade” herself, the documentary captures the harrowing and hopeful stories of those who pass through her doors. Since 2022, following the full-scale invasion, Forest Glade has been inundated with new patients, each bearing the visible and invisible wounds of conflict. Despite the diverse backgrounds of those who seek refuge here, “Forest Glade” finds a way to reach each one. She is their refuge from war, but with only three weeks to heal each person before they are sent back to the front or into civilian life, she faces the monumental task of combating the war’s impact on an entire nation. Can she truly provide enough time and care to heal the wounds of a country at war?
